Im a downhill skiing and bobsleigh kinda reader ! all 6 of those books in those categories sound great! Paradise and Into thin Air are the first 2 that immediately come to mind!
So many good reads! I already wanted to read several, so thanks for bringing them back to the front and center. This may be my sign to finally read Into Thin Air.
My Sports Themed Recs (mostly more Literal, more fiction involved):
Hockey: Indian Horse - easily one of my fave books I read last year and the most exquisite writing about hockey I've ever read. Makes me want to be a hockey player (I say as someone who loved playing basketball as my winter sport). Also an extremely compelling look at racism towards Indigenous people in Canada.
Firekeeper's Daughter - YA Thriller that discusses issues like addiction on Native American reservations. All of Angeline Boulley's YA thrillers are great but this is her first and is about a hockey player!
Cross Country Skiing: The White Darkness - A short nonfiction book by David Grann about a guy who tried to cross country ski across Antarctica and died. Moving and engaging and after beginning the book with "why would that guy do that?" i found him to be a pretty compelling person.
Curling: Winter by Val McDermid - a book about some of the weird winter rituals people have.
Figure Skating: Snow by Orhan Pamuk - This is a more political novel than my winter olympics connection will allow me to describe here, but there is a theme of snow enabling creation here so i feel like that goes with figure skating and maybe some of the ski jumping sports.
The way I knew Into Thin Air would be on here. Love this list!

My Mom consistently calls it her favorite Christmas movie and refuses to entertain criticism that it’s a winter movie, not holiday-specific 🤣💜
