A Live Kickoff Summer Reading Guide Season!

A chat about the nitty-gritty of guide creation with Sara Hildreth of Fiction Matters

My Nonfiction Reading Guide dropped today, so I went live with the greatest guide maker in the game, Sara Hildreth to talk about how we craft our guides. Sara’s is an all paperback fiction guide, and mine is an all nonfiction guide. We started off talking about our guides and what is new this year, and then took questions from all of you about what makes a book right for “summer reading”, how we decide what makes it into a given guide each year, how long we work on these guides, and so much more.

We also talked about something special we’re doing this year. We are both donating all our proceeds for our guides to I AM ALS in honor of Sara’s father who died this year from the disease. On top of that Sara is generously matching all of the donations. So if you get one of our guides, that is $10 to ALS research, if you get both it is $20. If you’re on the fence about getting these guides, this is your sign to do it. Reading for a cause! If you’re already a paid subscriber to our pages, you can make a donation now, or wait until Friday June 5th when we all join forces to donate to them for $5 Friday.
