Excited for Amanda Montell’s new book! I loved cultish. I listened via audiobook and loved her sense of humor and delivery. My next credit on Libro.FM kicks in tomorrow so will listening to the new one this week.
I have an arc of Leila’s book of poetry so I’m excited to read that one. Trying to clear out all of my arcs and then I’m done with requesting them. It’s exhausting. Plus I have SO MANY books at home to read.
In another note, I am really enjoying your Substack. So much interesting content. How on earth do you find the time???
Yes the pressure of ARCs can be very exhausting. It is never ending sometimes.
I am not sure how I get it all done, but I do. Though I think I gotta reevaluate my balance because my reading has been way down in the last few weeks.
I finally got James by Percival Everett from the library, so that is next! Also finishing The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride (hopefully today). After those next up is: He/She/They: How We Talk about Gender and Why It Matters by Schuyler Bailar, How the Irish Became White by Noel Ignatiev, and How to Walk Into a Room: The Art of Knowing When to Stay and When to walk Away by Emily P Freeman
For a class I’m having to read The People of the Trees by Hanya Yanagihara and I’m FUMING: I HAAAATTTEEE this book cuz of how it is written…. How long are you expected to keep reading a book with zero redeemable qualities in the narrator…? I digress, I have to finish it though unfortunately
Bones worth breaking sounds very interesting…but next up for me James, then All We Were Promised
Ugh, JAMES is so good. Enjoy!

Yes! She is so great on audio.
I am excited for/curious about Knife by Salman Rushdie - I think it comes out April 16th
Yes! This was on my list, and then at the last minute I pulled it off. I will wait until you (or someone else) tells me what's up.

Sounds like a lot of good reading ahead of you!

I hate when I have to read something and I hate it. Set daily page goals and when you hit them, then read what you want.
I'm a 50 page or abandon it type person....but for class I'm a skim it enough to reasonably pass. Sorry you are stuck with a book you hate!
