Introducing: Understanding Shakespeare
A 5-week workshop geared toward giving you the tools needed to read and understand the work of William Shakespeare.
I am so excited to share some big news with you. I am going to be teaching my very first online class this fall. It is called Understanding Shakespeare, and it is exactly that, a no stress, big fun, five-week class on how to read and understand Shakespeare, starting Wednesday September 17.
As you know, I love Shakespeare and want other folks to feel excited and confident when engaging with his texts. I am brining my background as an actor who studied and performed Shakespeare to this class. You can think of it as part seminar part workshop (read: class participation will be happening).
For those wondering, we'll be using Twelfth Night and Richard III as our guiding texts (and Rep Club is offering folks 30% off the books because they are the best). We won't be reading the full plays but, rather using monologues and scenes from them to illustrate the three key components in Shakespeare's plays -- verse, antithesis, and argument.
I have never done anything like this before, and I couldn't be more excited (or nervous, if we're being honest) to dig into one of my absolute favorites with all of you. If you've got questions don't hesitate to reach out.
Congratulations !! For the folks not living in the States, would it be possible, if we enroll to have the replays ?
Traci - I thought of you today as I am nearing the end of the Lorne Michaels/SNL book when they mention Shakespeare.
